A letter from the rector – Reviewing our Vision
Reviewing our Vision
Dear Church Member,
During the months of May, June and July we will be making a special effort to evaluate where we are as The Parish of Wiverton in the Vale, and to focus our vision and establish our priorities for the next five years.
We want to ask the question:
“What does Jesus, as the living head of our church, want us to be, and do?”
In order to answer this question, as accurately as possible we want to know how you prayerfully see things.
We want to give everyone a chance in sharing his or her concerns and insights on the direction that we are heading.
This is why we are offering you an invitation to join a Discovery Group that will meet weekly in someone’s home during this period.
I am aware that not everyone will be used to meeting in this way and may be apprehensive. It is, however, the easiest way to hear and collate as many people’s thoughts as possible and we will try to be as sensitive as we can in the groups. It is because your views matter that we are trying to create a forum for you to be heard. Some of the groups will meet during the day and some in the evenings. You will have a choice as to what best suits you.
In these Discovery Groups we will be following a course that will help us discover what God is saying to us as a fellowship. The themes of the course will be introduced in the Sunday Morning Services and then you have an opportunity to respond and feed back in a group the following week. The process will start on Wednesday 15th May with a Prayer and Worship evening in The Rectory at 7pm.
We will be looking at our community, our church, and the Bible as we try to discover how the church can truly engage locally and be relevant to a changing world.
Please make every effort to come and be part of this adventure. It will help us immensely. Remember, your views are important.
You can sign up for one of the groups by contacting myself rector@wivertoninthevale.co.uk, or Jane Travis on admin@wivertoninthevale.co.uk. A Group Leader may also be in touch with you in the next few weeks to see if you would like to be involved. If you would like more information, please feel free to give me a call. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Yours sincerely,
David B. Rowe
