Pew Runners Project

The Parish of Wiverton in the Vale is blessed with eight rare, 14th century, poppy head pews in use in St Giles, Cropwell Bishop. Unfortunately they are neither comfortable or welcoming. While we wait in hope for a ‘go-ahead’ for our re-ordering plans, this is something we can address. We’d love to make colourful, comfortable, cross-stitched pew runners from kits similar to those used to make our kneelers about forty years ago (and still as good as new). These will be welcoming and suitable both now and once the reordering has been completed.

You are all, (NOT just Cropwell Bishop folk), very warmly invited to participate in this project by stitching in a group during Coffee, Cake, Chat (CCC) on Wednesday mornings and/or by sponsoring a length of runner. The kit for one pew which could seat typically seven people (not socially distanced) costs £360. You might like to sponsor a fraction of a runner. We’ve already had a very generous and encouraging start with enough donations to cover two pews. Please send your donations, (together with your Gift Aid details if you are a taxpayer) to the Parish Treasurer, either by clicking here and choosing the St Giles option, or by sending him a cheque made out to Wiverton in the Vale PCC. Thank you.
