JOY! All Parish service, Cropwell Bishop – Suspended until further notice
JOY! – Joyful worship every 2nd Sunday in the month at 10.30am in St Giles’ Church, Cropwell Bishop.
Not just for children, not just for families – everyone’s very welcome! Followed by coffee and cake.
P.S. JOY! It’s a funny name for a gathering to worship God in church on a Sunday morning. Actually, we think it is a brilliant name!
Firstly, it’s new and different and short, and we plan to have a new and different gathering (and not just for children, though of course children are very good at being full of joy).
Secondly its roots are very old. The folk in the Bible were often sad, and very often grumpy, but they still knew about joy. They used to rejoice and celebrate, praising God and thanking him for his goodness whenever they could.
Thirdly, it is beautifully spelt.
J – Jesus, on whom our faith is centred
O – offers, never forces, but waits for you to accept
Y – you, means you
Jesus offers you: love, peace, forgiveness, salvation, freedom, eternal life, …, and of course, JOY!
