Testing your equipment

  • Check your webcam by clicking here
    • Click on the grey box
    • A series of tests will be carried out and the results presented under the heading
    • Ideally, your webcam should have
      • a Resolution of at least 1280×720
      • a Frame Rate of at least 15 FPS
… but it should still produce usable footage with a lower spec
  • Check your microphone by clicking here
    • Click on the grey box
    • Speak into the microphone whilst a series of tests are carried out
    • The results will be presented under the heading
    • Ideally your microphone should have
      • a Sample Rate of at least 48000
… but it should still produce usable audio with a lower spec
  • Check your internet connection by clicking here
    • Click on the GO button and wait for the test to complete
    • A Fibre Broadband connection should have a download speed of 20-40 Mbps and an upload speed of 5-10 Mbps
    • A Standard Broadband connection should have a download speed of 2-10 Mbps and an upload speed of 0.5-2 Mbps (uploading your video over standard broadband will be slow so you will need some patience!)
    • A mobile phone 4G connection should have a download speed of 8-10 Mbps and an upload speed of 3-6 Mbps, but this is highly dependent on your signal strength and quality

I hope this is all clear. It sounds more complicated than it actually is. If you have any problems, give me a call or email and I will try to help out.
