Diocesan Day of Prayer – Thursday 8 June
The second Thursday of every month is designated a special diocesan day of worship and prayer. Throughout the day, services and gatherings are held across the diocese, culminating in Southwell for Evensong in Southwell Minster at 5.30pm, supper at Bishop’s Manor, Southwell at 6.30pm, and contemporary worship and prayer in the State Chamber at 7.45pm. Revd Canon Stephen Hippisley-Cox, Area Dean for East Bingham, writes:
It was really good to see so many of you the other day at St Mary’s, Radcliffe on Trent, for our evening with Bishop Paul telling us of his journey “From Somerset to Southwell”.
Can I encourage you to come to Southwell for the next ‘Day of Prayer’ on Thursday 8th June — it is an opportunity to once again meet with the bishop and others from across the diocese in an informal setting, and is very good.
The idea is to attend either evensong and the supper, or the supper and contemporary worship — either attend what you are comfortable with, or try something different! It would be good if you could let Portia, our deanery administrator, know if you hope to attend.
To assist with catering, please let us know you’re coming to the supper by signing up here.
