Cadet Service at St John the Divine

In Colston Bassett on Sunday 15 January, we were privileged to host a service for the dedication of the banner of 1936 (Newton) Squadron Air Training Corps.
In a packed church, the service was led by Revd Fred Connell, the corps’ padré . After two stirring and patriotic hymns (I Vow to Thee, My Country and Jerusalem), the congregation was treated to an inspiring talk by Kevin Lawry, a former Squadron Leader and Vulcan pilot with a lifetime of experience in the RAF. Revd Connell then spoke before dedicating the squadron’s new banner.

Following the service, officers, cadets, their families and other members of the congregation were invited to an excellent buffet lunch in the village hall.
