Online Carol Service – Sunday 20 December

The Fourth Sunday of Advent

This week, we have a special service of readings and carols for you to join in with at home. Sid Mitchell (LLM in training) will lead the service and give a short reflection. The carols will be led by a (socially-distanced) choir and the readings will be delivered by members of our congregations.

Don’t edit this template. Just use it to Copy to a new draft.
The blocks in grey will not be displayed because they have the ‘hide-this’ CSS class (see under Advanced in the Block Editor)

• Before the post is initially published
  • Update the post heading and URL slug
  • Update all the sections in blue below
  • Replace the Featured Image for the post
  • Update the link for the Order of Service
  • Under Advanced, remove the Additional CSS Class hide-this from the blocks with the placeholder image and the “Coming soon!” text below
  • Add comment tags around the YouTube link in the HTML block below
  • Update the default “Service” selection on the feedback form
  • Change the Category of past videos from Upcoming to Archive
• After the video has been uploaded to YouTube:
  • Replace the YouTube link in the HTML block below with the appropriate URL (making sure to keep the ?rel=0 part) and remove the comment tags around it
  • Under Advanced, add the Additional CSS Class hide-this to the blocks with the placeholder image and the “Coming soon!” text below

You might find it helpful to display a copy of the Weekly Notices side-by-side with the video or have a printed copy handy. The words of the carols will appear as subtitles in the video.

The video will remain on the website afterwards, so that you can watch it again later (or for the first time, if you missed it before!)

Click on the image below to watch the video. It will ‘go live’ 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. You might want to start the video a little early, just to check everything is working OK before pausing it () and pressing Play () again at the time in blue above. You can make the video fill the whole screen by pressing the button at the bottom right of the video window once it is playing.

Time for a Cuppa

We are replicating the tradition of ‘refreshments’ after the service with an online Zoom meeting at 11.30 am. You will obviously have to provide your own tea/coffee and cake/biscuits, but you should be able to enjoy the company of others who have shared in the service and catch up with news. For reasons of online security, we no longer publish Zoom links in the Weekly Notices or on our website.
