A new era for our parish begins on 12 November with the Institution, Induction and Installation of our new rector, Reverend Rachel Mitchell. The Service will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Langar at 7.30 pm.
Rachel will be Instituted (i.e. given the authority to carry out spiritual duties in the parish) by Bishop Paul Williams. She will then be Inducted (i.e. given the legal responsibility for the benefice) and Installed (a symbolic act of being offered and taking a seat in the church) by Archdeacon Phil Williams. If you are interested in learning more about these traditions, an interesting article can be found by clicking here.
This service is open to all and we would like to encourage everyone associated with any of our churches to join in this welcome to Rachel and her husband Sid. Present will be clergy and lay-representatives from the diocese and deanery, representatives of many local organisations, well-wishers from Rachel’s former benefice of Radcliffe and Shelford, churchwardens of our own parish, members of the PCC and many, many regular worshippers and other residents of our parish.
Parking for the service will be on the green outside St Andrew’s Church and we would encourage people to car-share if at all possible. If you need access to a disabled parking spot please contact our Parish Administrator beforehand.
There will be a light finger-buffet after the service and an opportunity to mingle and perhaps offer your own personal welcome to Rachel.
